In a nutshell here are some examples how bespoke insurance can be implemented.

Retained Risk Financing Program

An energy investment fund was seeking to reduce insurance spend across its portfolio. They created a “Retained Risk Financing Program” of $20M and bought cheap traditional insurance above that level.

Family Office

A family office had to insure multiple homes and assets working with multiple brokers and getting standard insurance in language they couldn’t read. We converted that into 1 Lloyds policies that is broad, written in English and insured the multiple properties and assets.

Weather and Natural Perils

In places where traditional insurance is not available – like for example earthquake in certain areas of Mexico or Japan or Hurricane risk in Florida, we can build parametric insurance programs that can protect against such risks.

In fact any weather and natural perils derivative can be insured this way – for example low agricultural production due to low rainfall, wind turbine / lack of wind, hydroelectric plant / lack of water etc.

Life Science Company

A life science company felt they were completely exposed for physical and cyber loss at their sole source suppliers on which they have total dependency. We worked with them to secure contingent business interruption insurance that covered their P&L because of a fire, natural peril or cyber event at their sole source suppliers and subcontractors.

M&A Deal

An M&A deal was stuck because of a potential aggravation of a tax situation that none of the parties was willing to assume. Subject to a favorable tax opinion, we syndicated $200M of insurance support that would pay in case that tax authorities decided to tax the deal.
